Designed by Alan Pape and built by Oceancraft of Wadebridge (1985) for the current owner.
Multichine steel construction; low aspect cutter rig; long keel, heavy displacement cruiser.
Short doghouse on a semi-flush deck, high topsides, giving 6’ headroom below, this is a long-distance cruiser which has circumnavigated and has been extensively sailed double- and single-handed.
Currently ashore at Port Dinorwic, North Wales with berthing paid up to January 2022.
Gladys May first crossed the Atlantic in 1985, has sailed in the Baltic to St Petersburg, and circumnavigated between 1994 and 2003. She inspired confidence in the Roaring Forties and with cruising chute copes with light airs. With some work she will make a superb boat for offshore voyaging and should interest you if you are looking for a strong and seakindly steel vessel at a reasonable price.
